The first Valentine's Day in my life where
I ate NO sugar!
Reactions: There were dozens and dozens of beautiful cupcakes glaring at me during the after church gathering, and I just stared back.

It was very, very hard for me, but I felt good for not giving in to my cravings. The old adage came to mind, "nothing tastes as good as thin feels." This time, when that went through my head, instead of thinking, "well, right now, this will taste good so I will eat it anyway," I agreed. Thin DOES feel better than that cupcake would have tasted and I actually have the willpower not to give in thanks to this amazing protocol. I feel both physical and mental empowerment when I am on this plan. I don't even want to know what kind of downward spiral 1 dumb cupcake could put me into.
I even saved a couple in my freezer for 8 weeks from now when I'm not on this super strict diet and my body could handle a small treat. Maybe I won't even feel like eating it by then, but probably not. Right now, I feel empowered....I just hope the scale rewards me tomorrow!

Looking forward to: The soon to be freezer burned little cupcakes. :)

251.4
Today's weight
240.8
Total Loss:33.8 lbs.
Today's Loss: 0.2 lbs.
Loss this round: 10.6 lbs.

Reactions: I have no idea what to make of what the scale told me today! When I woke up at 7:15 I peed then weight and I was delighted to see 238.4. I even double checked to see if it was an error. Then, I went on a 45 minute walk, came back, pooed then weighed again. The scale told me 240.4 so I checked again and the same thing! !  I didn't drink or eat anything during the two hours between weighing. WEIRD! I don't know which to believe but I know which one I liked better. Hmmm!? I guess I'll see what happens tomorrow.

Today I was busy and didn't get around to eating most of my food till after 7:00 p.m.! I may regret that tomorrow.

Totally unrelated to my negligent eating habits today, I was thinking about what foods I buy organic and which I don't. I've been slowly, very slowly converting to eating organically over the past couple of years. I just wanted to share the guide I use to help me decide. I'm naturally a bit overly thrifty, so I mainly buy the clean 15 conventionally. Click here for the full list.
Another thing I have really try to buy that Organically is meat/chicken if not, I at least buy it from Trader Joes, whom I trust a bit more than Wal-Mart (for purely psychological reasons I'm sure.) For fish, I just make sure to get Wild Caught. My eggs on the other hand have not gone organic...just yet at least.

Looking forward to:Eating the same food as my family. Those tacos looked so yummy.

Today's weight
241
Total Loss:33.6 lbs.
Today's Loss: 0 lbs.
Loss this round: 10.4 lbs.

Reactions:No loss....hmmm. I'm not sweating it. The 3 lbs. from yesterday made today's no loss NO BIGGIE. I think it's because it's been 1 week.  A lot of peeps stall after 1 week.
Another possibility is that I was lax when preparing homemade ranch and got mayo on my hands a few times. I did wear gloves, just possibly not enough. Oh well.

Another reason for stall: No B.M. today. I didn't take Smooth Move last night. It's VERY helpful when it comes to being regular since that is one of the main issues you have when on hCG. Tonight, I'm taking some!!!

Looking forward to: loosing weight tomorrow morn.

Reactions: Maybe my body was so tired because it was working so hard to drop the pounds! 3 lbs lost since yesterday is awesome, even if I don't have enough energy to clean the house later. I'll deal with living in squalor to shed weight like that! ;) Wait, maybe I lost extra due to actually moving and cleaning so much. Never mind about not doing anything! Where's my mop!?!?

Last night I dreamed that I was eating a huge rib eye. It is hilarious that I dream about cheating when on hCG! I think I felt bad about it in my dream, but ate it anyway! :) I would like one in real life....but that can wait!

Looking forward to: fat. i miss it already!

Round 2 Phase 2 Day3

Starting weight:
274.6
Round 2 Starting Weight
(after loading)
251.4
Today's weight
251.4
Total Loss:
23lbs.
Gain: 5lbs during 2 load days.

Reactions: Loading was a fatty, fun time, but now it's over and it's time to get down to business! Many people say that it is very difficult to load and they feel horrible, but that doesn't happen to me. I enjoy it thoroughly. We went to Metro Pizza Friday night as planned and had a yummy dinner...and a little miracle happened. We got a FREE pizza because they messed up our order just a tad! We had that yummy pizza for dinner and breakfast! ;) I ordered a double double at In N Out for the 1st time...and enjoyed the other yummy foods.  At 8p.m last night I still didn't feel stuffed, so we piled into the car to find a chimichanga. Luckily the taco shop agreed to deep fry my burrito which did the trick! I topped it all off with a churro.

Then, finally by the end of the night I felt stuffed and rolled into bed.

Here's today's food list:
Pizza for breakfast w/ Yummy ranch.
Chocolate Brownie Ben and Jerry's
1/2 c. Peanut Butter
In N Out Double Double
French Fries
Fried Chicken Burrito
A taquito
1 Churro
Rice & Bison Strogenhoff  w/ 1/2 c. Full Fat Sour Cream
3tbs butter on cinnamon raisin Ezekiel bread

4:30-I think that I am so good at keeping up with this blog while on hCG is because whenever I need to escape from food or thinking about food, I come here instead. Right now I am VERY hungry and wanting to eat, but need to wait 20 minutes since I just took my drops. I'm feeling strong, but am not over the longing for the for the yummy foods I've enjoyed for the past 6 weeks! Today, on the first day of this VLCD (very low calorie diet) I awoke to the smell of fresh baked biscuits wafting through my house. No grace period here huh!?!? My husband is not on hCG this time since he doesn't have much left to loose. I guess there's no time like the present to be inducted into this restrictive diet. Right?

I learned that during my first round I felt better after sniffing foods that were on the black list. It's a weird concept, but it somehow satisfied me. It didn't work today though. I'm feeling hungry and sniffing the offending food just worsened that sensation. BUT......I am so not even tempted to cheat (saying that to reinforce that idea cause i do feel a little tempted.) Whatever I feel, It doesn't really matter. My desire to drop another 30 pounds is way stronger than that other urge. I'm just hoping the hCG kicks in SOON!

9:00-Feeling WAY better. I think I hadn't consumed enought h20 or something. I'm sure the grapefruit, grilled chicken,  and asparagus helped too. ;)

When all is said and done, it has been a good day! Can't wait to see what the scale says tomorrow!

Looking forward to: Lots of loosing ahead!

Gain before Loss......CHECK!!!

I've learned that many do not eat enough on loading days and have problems with hunger during their first week....that's not going to happen here!

Once again, I begin this adventure.....and I'm excited!

Some things I enjoyed on load day 1:

Butter,

3 Eggs,

Butter,

Fresh Bacon,

Butter,

Orange Chicken,

Butter,

Stuffed Pizza,

Butter,

Yummy Ranch,

Butter,

Chicken Fingers,

Butter,

Peanut butter on Celery,

Butter....

oh, and some more butter.

Alright, so I may be exaggerating about the butter, but I think I did a good job following Dr. S's advice to:  "eat to capacity of the most fattening food they can get down"

I'm amazing, I know.

Gain before Loss: (Pounds and Inches)

Patients whose general condition is low, owing to excessive previous dieting, must eat to capacity for about one week before starting treatment, regardless of how much weight they may gain in the process. One cannot keep a patient comfortably on 500 Calories unless his normal fat reserves are reasonably well stocked. It is for this reason also that every case, even those that are actually gaining must eat to capacity of the most fattening food they can get down until they have had the third injection. It is a fundamental mistake to put a patient on 500 Calories as soon as the injections are started, as it seems to take about three injections before abnormally deposited fat begins to circulate and thus become available.
We distinguish between the first three injections, which we call “non-effective” as far as the loss of weight is concerned, and the subsequent injections given while the patient is dieting, which we call “effective”. The average loss of weight is calculated on the number of effective injections and from the weight reached on the day of the third injection which may be well above what it was two days earlier when the first injection was given.
Most patients who have been struggling with diets for years and know how rapidly they gain if they let themselves go are very hard to convince of the absolute necessity of gorging for at least two days, and yet this must he insisted upon categorically if the further course of treatment is to run smoothly. Those patients who have to be put on forced feeding for a week before starting the injections usually gain weight rapidly - four to six pounds in 24 hours is not unusual - but after a day or two this rapid gain generally levels off.  In any case, the whole gain is usually lost in the first 48 hours of dieting. It is necessary to proceed in this manner because the gain re-stocks the depleted normal reserves, whereas the subsequent loss is from the abnormal deposits only.
Patients in a satisfactory general condition and those who have not just previously restricted their diet start forced feeding on the day of the first injection. Some patents say that they can no longer overeat because their stomach has shrunk after years of restrictions. While we know that no stomach ever shrinks, we compromise by insisting that they eat frequently of highly concentrated foods such as milk chocolate, pastries with whipped cream sugar, fried meats (particularly pork), eggs and bacon, mayonnaise, bread with thick butter and jam, etc. The time and trouble spent on pressing this point upon incredulous or reluctant patients is always amply rewarded afterwards by the complete absence of those difficulties which patients who have disregarded these instructions are liable to experience.
During the two days of forced feeding from the first to the third injection - many patients are surprised that contrary to their previous experience they do not gain weight and some even lose. The explanation is that in these cases there is a compensatory flow of urine, which drains excessive water from the body. To some extent this seems to be a direct action of HCG, but it may also be due to a higher protein intake, as we know that a protein-deficient diet makes the body retain water.

Rearin to go!

I've been thinking a lot about my strategy for this upcoming round and thought I would write it down so I don't forget.
TOM officially came to town on Sunday...so that means I get to start on hCG again at the end of the week! Hooray! This time around I am.....

  • Going to do a full 6 week round.
  • Not going to mix vegetables! Oh, it is so tempting, but I am going to refrain!
  • Not adding salsa to every meal I eat like I did last time.
  • NOT going to go to Costco during sample times! I'm just not in to self torture.
  • ONLY eating the vegetables listed in Dr. Simmeons original protocol.
  • NOT going to eat any American Beef (as recommended in the original protocol...even if I love it!)
  • Only eating buffalo every 3 days. It's the only exception / food addition I'm going to make to the original protocol. I'll see how it goes. Last round I ate American Beef a lot and I think this will be a much better choice. I always wonder if my results would have been better if I would have been more vigilant. We'll see.
  • Preparing all my meat in advance and have it frozen and ready to go.
Chicken: weigh/grill/shred/package in snack baggies/freeze it.
White Fish: Weigh/Season/package in foil/freeze it raw.
Buffalo: Weigh/ Season/ Cook/ package in snack baggies/ freeze it.

  • Going to buy AND wear food prep gloves when preparing my kids food.
  • Looking forward to eating at metro pizza on my 1st load day! They have the best homemade ranch...
  • Planning on going to bed at 10:00 EVERY NIGHT, even if it will be difficult. Maybe I could find a way to have the power cut off at 9:45 so I have no other choice but to go to bed! ;) I've got issues with this one, but I know that I fell like JUNK and GAIN/STALL when I don't get to bed!
  •  Going toWALK 6 days a week! I've been walking most mornings and have felt FANTASTIC! I did no exercise during Round 1 phase 2 (cept walking around the grocery store looking at things I couldn't eat,) but this time, I'm just going to walk. A nice brisk, happy walk. I have LOVED feeling the cool moring air and being outside when the sun rises. It's a special treat every morning.
  • Sticking to Apple Cider Vinegar for the vinegar of choice...not rice/white vinegar.
  • Going to find a dressing recipe I LOVE....SOON!!!!! Hopefully! Anyone have the perfect recipe they want to share???
  • NOT GOING TO FREAK OUT when I stall when TOM or OVU come around.
  • Going to put the Gallon of water I'm going to drink that day on my counter 1st thing in the morning!
  •  Going to REMEMBER that this phase will be over in a blink of an eye...and that any struggles/hardships/cravings/desires for non-protocol foods I encounter will be for but a small moment!!!! (hey, i need to remember this about life in general too!:))
  • Excited not to be doing this phase over Thanksgiving/Christmas/New years!!!!
I think that about sums it up.
Basically, this round I'm going to STRICTLY follow the protocol and hope for the best.
I am not going to redesign the original architect's plans this time around. I only made a few adjustments last time, but I know I would have been just fine without that dab of salty salsa on everything or the ground beef every other day.

What about you???
If you've done the protocol already and need additional rounds, what are you going to differently then your other rounds when following the protocol, whether it is more or less like the original protocol? After all, we all have different bodies and results....even if doing the exact same things.

    today:

    enjoying this stuff immensely....

.....and waiting for TOM to pay me a visit so I can start round 2.

My 6 weeks will be up on Sunday.
    Hooray!
I'm so excited to keep on loosing.
Even more excited than I am now as I am eating yummy food....and a few luscious steaks here and there.

    Tuesday, January 19, 2010

    eureka!

i was talking to my mom on the phone about the glories of hCG.

she's not ready to do the protocol, but that doesn't stop me from testifying of it's goodness...

    ....and wonderful side effects.

    • mom- now, how many pounds have you lost again?
    • me- thirty...i reminded
    • mom- that's great. i want to eventually loose 10 lbs.
    • me- yea, you seem to be at a comfortable weight. before i started, it wasn't so much my weight that bothered me....it was mostly that my body was feeling poorly. my heels were especially hurting and it was uncomfortable to exercise. now, i can't remember the last time they hurt!

fast forward 30 minutes to when i was skimming my hCG blogroll.

right there on the screen was less of me's title:

    HEEL PAIN.

i followed the bait and it lead me to her post about heal pain and hCG

    and i was astonished!

when i read the passage about heal pain from pounds and inches it was as if i had struck gold!

for some reason i hadn't thought of the section on heal pain when i was excited about the pain in my heels being gone!

i had assumed it was because i had 30 less pounds to haul to and fro!

hCG has done wonderful things for my body!

what a joy it is to find ANOTHER REASON WHY I HAVE A TESTIMONY OF HCG!

what a rich woman i am!

    The Painful Heel- Dr. Simmeons

In obese patients who have been trying desperately to keep their weight down by severe dieting, a curious symptom sometimes occurs. They complain of an unbearable pain in their heels which they feel onlywhile standing or walking. As soon as they take the weight off theirheels the pain ceases. These cases are the bane of therheumatologists and orthopedic surgeons who have treated thembefore they come to us. All the usual investigations are entirelynegative, and there is not the slightest response to anti- rheumaticmedication or physiotherapy. The pain may be so severe that thepatients are obliged to give up their occupation, and they are notinfrequently labeled as a case ofhysteria. When their heels are carefully examined one finds that thesole is softer than normal and that the heel bone - the calcaneus - canbe distinctly felt, which is not the case in a normal foot.We interpret the condition as a lack of the hard fatty pad on which the calcaneus rests and which protects both the bone and the skin of the sole from pressure. This fat is like a springy cushion which carries the weight of the body. Standing on a heel in which this fat is missing or reduced must obviously be very painful. In their efforts to keep their weight down these patients have consumed this normal structural fat. Those patients who have a normal or subnormal weight while showingthe typically obese fat deposits are made to eat to capacity, often much against their will, for one week. They gain weight rapidly but there is no improvement in the painful heels. They are then started on the routine HCG treatment. Overweight patients are treated immediately. In both cases the pain completely disappears in 10-20 days of dieting, usually around the 15th day of treatment, and so far no case has had a relapse, though we have been able to follow up such patients for years. We are particularly interested in these cases, as they furnish further proof of the contention that HCG + 500 Calories not only removes abnormal fat but actually permits normal fat to be replaced, in spite of the deficient food intake. It is certainly not so that the mere loss of weight reduces the pain, because it frequently disappears before the weight the patient had prior to the period of forced feeding is reached.

    Oopsie!!!

    I have a regret.

I REALLY regret not keeping a food journal during phase 3 and 4.
I think it would really be a huge help for me right about now!
But I didn't and don't know what in the world I should do.

Even without a food journal, I know 1 thing for sure. That is that the past week since I started adding starches and sugars has been a wild ride that has gone out of control. Today I weigh 250 lbs. That's 5 lbs. over my LDW (last drop weight)  of 145. What a disappointment.

It all started Saturday Jan. 9th, the first day of p4 when I was allowed to eat starches and sugars. I did not go hog wild by all means, but I didn't exactly follow the whole introduce foods SLOWLY thing. Things that I probably should NOT have done:
    •  Eating the whole fried taco shell from my "salad" from Baja fresh at lunch time.
    •  Eating the two healthy banana carrot muffins my friend made.-yum.
    • Having 2 servings of Ruffles with several tbs. of ranch that included msg.
    • The 1/4 cup of Ben and Jerry's
    • Eating the last 3 things past 10 p.m. at night while playing a fun game with friends
    • Staying up past 1 a.m.
From that point, it's all gone down hill.

And I'm sure it's NO SURPRISE that the very next morning, the scale told me just what I thought it would tell me.

And as a result: Steak Day.(which turned out just fine.

    But then.....

On Wednesday I went to a dinner that my brother's Japanese wife was preparing since they were in town.

Japanese food is healthy, right?!? I imagined I would eat the vegetables and meat and stay away from the starch...

    WRONG!

    EVERYTHING was fried!
Tempura took on a whole new meaning.

(And dinner wasn't ready until 10p.m....3 hrs. after the time we were supposed to eat.)

Bad Food + Late Night eating = Weight gain

Hmph. I think I remember the SAME scenario occurring only 3 days before.

Maybe I have short term memory loss or something.

    What next???

    You guessed it, STEAK DAY....AGAIN!

Only problem is that this time I was only down 1 lb. and still up 4 lbs. over my LDW!

I'm not sure what I should have done....well, I didn't do anything. I just drank lots and hoped for the best.

I don't want to type it cause I don't want it to be true....but I know I gain when I eat wheat. Hmph. :(

just some documentation to back up what i've thought for a while now.

    MY MICROWAVE..   re-purposed!
I've heard that using a microwave is bad for quite sometime.
I'm finally ready to follow the advice to stop using it to kill my food.
Instead... it is now a storage cabinet! ;)

Ten Reasons to Throw out your Microwave Oven
From the conclusions of the Swiss, Russian and German scientific clinical studies, we can no longer ignore the microwave oven sitting in our kitchens. Based on this research, we will conclude this article with the following:

    1. Continually eating food processed from a microwave oven causes long term - permanent - brain damage by "shorting out" electrical impulses in the brain [de-polarizing or de-magnetizing the brain tissue].
    2. The human body cannot metabolize [break down] the unknown by-products created in microwaved food.
    3. Male and female hormone production is shut down and/or altered by continually eating microwaved foods.
    4. The effects of microwaved food by-products are residual [long term, permanent] within the human body.
    5. Minerals, vitamins, and nutrients of all microwaved food is reduced or altered so that the human body gets little or no benefit, or the human body absorbs altered compounds that cannot be broken down.
    6. The minerals in vegetables are altered into cancerous free radicals when cooked in microwave ovens.
    7. Microwaved foods cause stomach and intestinal cancerous growths [tumors]. This may explain the rapidly increased rate of colon cancer in America.
    8. The prolonged eating of microwaved foods causes cancerous cells to increase in human blood.
    9. Continual ingestion of microwaved food causes immune system deficiencies through lymph gland and blood serum alterations.
    10. Eating microwaved food causes loss of memory, concentration, emotional instability, and a decrease of intelligence.
Have you tossed out your microwave oven yet?
The use of artificial microwave transmissions for subliminal psychological control, a.k.a. "brainwashing", has also been proven. We're attempting to obtain copies of the 1970's Russian research documents and results written by Drs. Luria and Perov specifying their clinical experiments in this area.
